Dr. Ma was trained as a MD anesthesiologist, and has been taking care of patients suffering from pain resulting from various conditions for many years. Her academic background also includes a PhD from Columbia University in New York, mentored by Dr. Eric Kandel, the 2000 Nobel prize Laureate for Medicine. Thus with in depth knowledge of pharmacology and neuroscience as well as her unique background, she has been integrating traditional medicine with conventional modern medicine in treatment of her patients. The traditional modalities she applies include traditional Chinese Medical methods as well as a variety of established approaches from around the world.
